Stennis-Montgomery Association Washington, DC Trip 2026 | Student & Staff Bios

Annual Washington, DC Networking Trip

Each year, the most dedicated members of the Stennis-Montgomery Association are given the unique opportunity to experience a week in our nation’s capital. During this unique opportunity in Washington, D.C., students connect with Mississippi State alumni, congressional staff, and policy professionals while gaining firsthand exposure to the inner workings of the political landscape. This immersive opportunity allows SMA students to expand their professional networks, deepen their understanding of public service, and engage directly with administrative institutions.

To earn a place on the trip, members must complete an in-depth research paper on either Senator John C. Stennis or Congressman Sonny Montgomery. Using the Mississippi Political Collections housed within the Mississippi State University Libraries, students work directly with primary source materials to examine the legacy and impact of these distinguished Mississippi State alumni.
