State Executive Development Institute

SEDI is an application-based program designed to prepare mid to upper-level state and local government executives to be more effective leaders. During the weeklong, intensive course, a broad range of topics are delivered by state and local officials, nationally recognized leaders, and Mississippi State University’s premier teaching and research faculty. Curriculum topics include leadership, management theory and skills, conflict resolution, cybersecurity, and other pertinent issues facing our future state leaders. Participants in the class will network with other state executives as well as the Institute faculty and leadership.

CUPSO Annual Conference

The 2026 Consortium of University Public Service Organizations Annual Conference will be hosted by the University of Alaska Anchorage Institute of Social and Economic Research (ISER) on the University of Alaska Campus in Anchorage, Alaska, May 18-20, 2026. Peers from university-based public service organizations around the country will connect to explore new ideas, tools, and resources; identify opportunities for collaboration; and build relationships with peers and partners. The 2026 conference theme is Public Service on the Frontier.

2026 Junior Civics Leadership Academy

The Stennis Institute's “Junior Civics Leadership Academy” (JCLA) is a 7-day conference designed for high school students to learn about topics such as governance, leadership, and community development in a fun, hands on manner. In addition to enjoying the unique simulations and workshops that the Stennis Institute have used as their basis for training professionals across the state, JCLA students will also have the benefit of earning college credit at the same time!

Mississippi Municipal League Annual Conference

MML is the Official Non-Profit private organization of Cities and Towns of Mississippi. The MML lobbies the state and federal legislatures, provides education for municipal elected officials, provides technical support, represents municipalities with public and private entities, and is a networking media for municipal members. The League sponsors several conferences and work sessions each year, which include well-known speakers, an array of workshops on important information and updates, awards and recognition programs, legislative planning, and the election of MML officers. The Stennis Institute looks forward to attending the MML 95th Annual Conference this summer!
