The Stennis Institute at Mississippi State University will be holding a public meeting at the Silver City Fire Station on April 2, 2026. PURPOSE OF THE MEETING
The purpose of this public meeting is to inform residents, stakeholders, and community partners about the jurisdiction’s Community Development Block Grant–Disaster Recovery (CDBG DR) allocation and to gather public input on unmet recovery needs, proposed programs, and priorities for long term disaster recovery related to damages from straight-line winds, severe storms, and tornadoes that occurred in March and June of 2023 and April 2024. This meeting is held in accordance with the HUD CDBG DR Universal Notice and the Federal Register Notice FR 6512 N 01 (90 FR 4759, January 16, 2025), which establishes requirements for public engagement, transparency, and Plan development.

• Overview of the CDBG DR allocation and eligible uses
• Summary of disaster impacts and identified unmet needs
• Requirements for fair housing, environmental compliance, and financial controls
• Public comment process and next steps in the Plan development
PUBLIC PARTICIPATION & ACCESSIBILITY
In accordance with HUD’s CDBG DR Universal Notice, meaningful access will be provided to all residents, including individuals with disabilities, individuals with limited English proficiency (LEP), and members of protected classes.
