The Stennis Institutes “Junior Civics Leadership Academy” (JCLA) is a 7-day conference designed for high school students to learn about topics such as governance, leadership, and community development in a fun, hands on manner. In addition to enjoying the unique simulations and workshops that the Stennis Institute have used as their basis for training professionals across the state, JCLA students will also have the benefit of earning college credit at the same time!

 

JCLA will be July 13-19, 2024.

JCLA will take place on Mississippi State University's campus, and will also include stops around Starkville and Jackson.

The Stennis Institute of Government and Community Development hosts JCLA.

Registration will close July 1, 2024.

The cost for JCLA is $1,500. This includes housing, lunch and dinner, transportation, supplies, conference t-shirts, and a three-hour elective college credit. A non-refundable deposit of $200 is due ten business days after receiving your invoice. The full payment is due before or on July 1, 2024.

Students will receive 3 hours of elective credit that can be used towards their college degree at Mississippi State University.

Lunch and dinner will be provided each day. Students are encouraged to bring their own breakfast.
