Wayne W. Weidie

Wayne W. Weidie is a Senior Governmental Affairs Advisor (non-lawyer) and a member of the Governmental Relations team, joining Adams and Reese after serving as Chief of Staff (1990-2003) for United States Representative Gene Taylor. During his tenure with Representative Taylor, his responsibilities included press for the Washington office and three district offices; supervising staff, budget preparation and tax, ethics and campaign issues. Mr. Weidie was the Editor and Publisher of the Gannett newspapers in Ocean Springs and Gautier, MS from 1970-1990, as well as a syndicated political columnist for 43 Mississippi newspapers from 1972-1990. He appeared weekly on Newswatch This Week for ABC-affiliate WLOX in Biloxi from 1988-1990. He is a former President of the Mississippi Press Association.
Mr. Weidie's personal political and congressional papers are just one of eight collections in the library's Congressional and Political Research Collection at the Mississippi State University Library. His personal papers are part of the library's Journalism Collection. Mr. Weidie is a participant of the Bill Collins Lecture series at Mississippi State University. He has been appointed to the Advisory Council for the John C. Stennis Institute of Government at Mississippi State University.
Mr. Weidie received a Bachelor of Arts in political science and history from Mississippi State University in 1963. He is a former Fellow of the Millsaps College Institute of Politics (1976) and the American Press Institute (1979, 1988).
